Main Street Magic: How Roxane Witte Breathed a "Heartbeat" Into Downtown Cameron

Cameron, TX - When Roxane Witte walks through the doors of ZX Made in Texas, she isn't just entering a boutique; she’s stepping into a story 176 years in the making. Located at 103 W Main Street, the shop has quickly become a cornerstone of Cameron’s downtown revitalization—a place where history, hospitality, and high-end craftsmanship meet.

The Calling: A Story 170 Years in the Making

Roxane’s connection to Cameron isn’t new; her family history in the area dates back to 1850. After a career that spanned real estate, branding, and social media, she found herself drawn back home to support her mother.

While listening to a podcast about revitalizing small downtowns, a single line changed her trajectory: “Every thriving downtown needs a story.”

"It hit me that I already carried a story," Roxane recalls. "In many ways, I didn’t just move to Cameron; Cameron called me here for the next chapter of my life’s work."

The Vision: More Than a Store

The building itself had been restored through the Railfan project, boasting beautiful brickwork and historic character. However, Roxane knew it needed more than just a renovation.

"The charm, the brick, the character—it was all there. I didn’t need to rebuild the space. What it needed was a heartbeat."

That heartbeat became ZX Made in Texas. Roxane rejected a standard business plan in favor of "serendipity, intuition, and storytelling." The result is a curated "Sip & Shop" experience that operates seven days a week, offering everything from locally made $7 candles to $4,000 fine art pieces.

The "Alignment" of Success

For Roxane, the success of ZX isn't found on a balance sheet. It’s found in the "alignment" of her professional skills—marketing, entrepreneurship, and branding—with her personal desire to see her community thrive.

"Success is when your gifts, your story, your creativity, and your purpose all meet in one place. The ZX is where that happened for me."

Today, the shop serves as a hub for 18 different artists and entrepreneurs, offering visitors a reason to stay in Cameron just a little bit longer. Whether they come for the wine bar, the coffee, or the Texas-made treasures, they leave having felt the "different" energy Roxane worked so hard to create.

"If people feel something when they walk through the door—connection, joy, curiosity, comfort—then I’ve succeeded."
