​Ponnaiya, Juno Aruba Jothi, 49, of Rockdale, passed away on August 17, 2026. Services were placed in the care of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale; she was a registered nurse with a master's degree in public health who worked with the Texas A&M Food & Nutrition Research Lab and served actively in children's ministries at Meadowbrook Baptist Church.

​Leschber, Carol Sue, 81, of Thorndale, passed away on August 15, 2026. Visitation is set for Friday, August 21, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale, followed by an 11:00 AM service on Saturday, August 22, at St. John Lutheran Church in Thorndale with burial at Detmold Cemetery; she was a longtime LVN nurse at Johns Community Hospital in Taylor and is survived by three children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

​Gelner, Caroline (Hubnik), 81, of Cameron, passed away on August 15, 2026. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, August 31, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM (Rosary at 7:00 PM) and the funeral will take place Tuesday, September 1, at 10:00 AM at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron; she was a 1962 C.H. Yoe High School graduate, former co-owner of Cameron Bowling Lanes and Diamond G Logistics, and retired after 18 years with the State of Texas (DADS).

​Ramirez, Isabel Sosa, 100, of Cameron, passed away on August 12, 2026. Arrangements were under the direction of Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron; born in Waelder, Texas, the centenarian homemaker was a longtime member of Primera Iglesia Bautista in Cameron.

​Slavik, Elizabeth "Betty" Mae, 89, of Hewitt (formerly of Cameron), passed away on August 10, 2026. Services were handled through Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron; raised near Cameron, she was married to the late Frank Slavik and was deeply devoted to her family and church.

​Greener, George Ronald "Ronnie", 79, of the Lexington and Rockdale area, passed away on August 8, 2026. Visitation and a Rosary were held on August 16 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale, followed by a Requiem Mass on August 17 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lexington; he was a 46-year career firefighter and Medal of Valor recipient who retired from The Woodlands Fire Department and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.

​Brown, Barbara Jean "Barbie", 70, of Rockdale, passed away on August 8, 2026. A graveside service was conducted on August 12 at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale by Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home; born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, she was a longtime resident of the Rockdale community.

​Smith, Joyce Janice, 77, of Rockdale and Brownwood, passed away on August 6, 2026. Funeral services were held on August 14 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with burial following at Smyrna Cemetery in Milano; the widow of Nolan Smith, she was a mother of seven and an avid gardener.

​Johnson, Jeremy Shaun, 47, of Rockdale, passed away on August 5, 2026. A chapel service was held on August 13 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale; he was a passionate sports enthusiast and dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan known for his humor and strength.

​Wilson, Ryan Allen, 22, of the Thorndale and Rockdale area, passed away on August 4, 2026. A graveside service was held on August 15 at Salty Cemetery in Rockdale under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home; he was a Thorndale High School graduate employed with Joe Bland Construction who aspired to launch custom welding business R+R Welding.

​Franklin, Virgie Oneta Williams, 91, of Cedar Park (formerly of Milano), passed away on August 4, 2026. Hernandez, Gerardo Nuñez - Mr. Hernandez passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, at the age of 54, surrounded by his loved ones after a long battle with lymphoma. He was born on August 23, 1971, in San Pablo, Mexico, to the late Faustino Nunez and Marciana Hernandez. The family will receive visitors today, April 27th, from 6–7 pm at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, Rockdale, with an evening service from 7–8 pm.

MIKESKA, Dorothy, 83, of Hutto, passed away on April 23rd. A visitation will be held at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor on Wednesday, April 29th from 9-10 am, followed by the funeral service at the funeral home at 10 am. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Palm Valley Cemetery in Round Rock.

STIGALL, Billy Hiatt, 89, of San Gabriel, passed away peacefully on April 21th at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Thursday, April 30th, at San Gabriel Christian Church in San Gabriel, with Pastor Billy Bob Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Locklin Cemetery in San Gabriel.

TUMLINSON, Jean Head, 95, of Cameron, passed away peacefully on April 12th. Services will be held at the Cameron Church of Christ on Saturday, April 25th, beginning with visitation one hour prior to the service at 10:30 am.

MERRITT, Wanda Elaine “Sookie” Love, 77, of Sharp, passed away peacefully on April 17th. Visitation will be held Friday, May 1st from 5-7 pm at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
