Whether you are looking for theatrical entertainment, a competitive morning on the golf course, or ways to get the kids ready for the upcoming school year, there is plenty to do this weekend.

Downtown Hearne Celebrate!

• Time: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
• Location: Downtown Hearne
• Details: Kick off the weekend with live music, food, and family fun. This community gathering features free vendor spaces for local food, crafts, and information.

Cameron Volunteer Fire Department Golf Tournament Fundraiser

• Time: 9:00 AM (Registration/Team Selection)
• Location: Cameron Country Club
• Details: Support our local firefighters in a four-man blind-draw golf tournament format. Players sign up individually, and teams are randomly selected right before tee-off.
• Cost: $75 per player (participants are encouraged to bring their own golf carts if available).
• Prizes: Awards will be given to the randomly drawn teams finishing in 1st and 2nd place.

Crochet Class at Moon Brew

• Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Location: Moon Brew in Rockdale
• Details: Perfect for beginners looking for a creative morning with good coffee and summer vibes. Participants will learn to make lancers and granny squares.
• Cost: $25 per person (all materials provided).

Back to School Community Event at Sumuel Park

• Time: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Location: Sumuel Park, 417 MLK Dr, Rockdale, TX
• Details: Prepare for the new school year with free food, games, and prizes. Donations are welcomed to help support the event.

Hope Rescue Garage Sale

• Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Saturday hours)
• Location: Hope Rescue
• Details: Shop for a cause! All proceeds from this weekend garage sale go directly toward supporting the animals at Hope Rescue.
• Note for Donors: Regular donation drop-off hours are Wednesday through Friday (9 AM – 1 PM), Saturday (10 AM – 4 PM), and Sunday (10 AM – 2 PM).

Back to School Kickball Bash

• Time: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
• Location: Cameron JH Field
• Details: Hosted by Kausion Wells, this tournament welcomes all surrounding areas to join a team or cheer them on. The event features a special "Staff" team composed of local teachers and coaches.
• Perks: Includes a free backpack giveaway for children aged 10 and under.

Free Family Pool Party

• Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
• Location: Rockdale Veterans Pool
• Details: Hosted by Milam County CASA and the Milam County CPS Welfare Board, this event offers a perfect evening to beat the summer heat. Enjoy free swimming, free hot dogs, and free snow cones (available for the first 60 kids).

Milam Community Theatre Presents: The Fantasticks

Ongoing: Open Gym at O.J. Thomas Alumni CRC

• Days/Times: Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM
• Location: 1400 W. 6th St., Cameron, TX
• Rules: Players are reminded to respect the facility (no hanging on rims), respect others (no trash talk or bullying), play with integrity, keep the gym clean, and strictly adhere to the zero-alcohol and zero-drug policy.

• Safety Bingo Mature Driver Program: Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and the VFW are hosting a free, educational traffic safety bingo event on July 27 from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM at the VFW (987 Hwy 79, Rockdale). Prizes will be awarded to winners.
• Winnie L. Community Dinner & Raffle: Stop by Winnie L. Nursing & Rehabilitation (2401 N. Karnes Ave, Cameron) on Tuesday, July 28 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM for a free meal of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, and desserts alongside the residents. Don't forget to enter the free prize raffle!
• Annual Backpack Giveaway: The Rockdale Community Market (Your Hometown Market) is currently collecting gently used and new backpacks for their upcoming distribution event on August 1st.
