Milam County 4-H Awards Gives High Honors

These young men and women work hard to achieve various levels of accomplishment at the County, District, State, and National Levels. Milam County 4-H Awards program was held on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

I Dare You Award Winners

The Milam County 4-H Awards Program is held each year to celebrate the accomplishments of our Milam County 4-H members who have excelled in their specific field(s) of interest throughout the year. These young men and women work hard to achieve various levels of accomplishment at the County, District, State, and National Levels. Milam County 4-H Awards program was held on Sunday, September 13, 2026. In the next few articles, we will be highlighting these fantastic youth. This news article focuses on this year’s top honors that went to our Bronze Star Award, Silver Star Award, I Dare You Award, and Gold Star Award winners.

Bronze Star Award Winner:

The Bronze Star Award is for Junior 4-H members, between the 3rd through 5th grade, who submit recordbooks, and apply for the Bronze Star Award. This year our sponsor is Main Printing, and we would like to thank them for their support and sponsorship.

Peyton Warford is the daughter of Tiffany Warford. Peyton recently completed the 5th grade, and this was her first year as a 4-H member. Her main projects include consumer education, food and nutrition, photography, and visual and performing arts.

Silver Star Award Winners:

Intermediate 4-H members between 6th through 8th grade who submit recordbooks, can

Alfred McDaniel is the son of Aaron and Edie McDaniel. Alfie recently completed the 8th grade and has been a member of 4-H for nine years, including his Cloverbud years. His main 4-H projects include sheep, poultry, leadership, gardening, and STEM.

Sloan Sanders is the son of Clint Sanders and Dr. Lyndi Banks. Sloan recently completed the 8th grade and has been a member of 4-H for nine years including his Cloverbud years. His main project is horses, and he also participates in ag mechanics.

I Dare You Award Winners:

William H. Danforth’s Book, I Dare You, was published in 1931. It is still considered one of the most influential books in the general area of personal motivation. The award is offered as recognition of excellence in character and well-balanced personal development as well as a demonstration of leadership. This award was sponsored by Phil and Debbie Konarik.

Madeline Basonic is the daughter of David and Amber Basonic. Maddie recently completed the 9th grade and is a 5-year member of the Cameron 4-H Club. Her main projects include photography, consumer education, food and nutrition, and visual and performing arts.

Noah Bradley- Cameron 4-H Club, Noah Bradley is the son of Steven and Jenny Bradley. Noah just completed the 9th grade in school this past year and has been a member of 4-H for 7 years. Noah’s main projects include Ag ID, consumer, photography, and STEM.

Luke Holcombe is the son of Andy and Micah Holcombe. Luke has been a member of 4-H for 10 years, including his Cloverbud years. Luke just completed the 9th grade in school this past year. His main projects include consumer, photography, natural resources, and food and nutrition.

McKenna Muston is the daughter of Preston and Jessica Muston and a member of the Rockdale 4-H Club. McKenna has been a member of 4-H for nine years and recently completed her sophomore year of high school. She is actively involved in livestock judging and showing cattle.

Gold Star Award Winners:

The presentation of the Gold Star Awards began in 1933. It is the highest county achievement award a senior 4-Her can receive. The number of Gold Star Awards are based on the senior membership of the total 4-H enrollment. This year the District granted Milam County 2 Gold Star Awards. As the senior membership grows it is very hard to select only 2 from Milam County. This year we had 4 seniors apply for the Gold Star Award. We are very proud of each of the 8 who applied and wish we could have given it to you, all of you.

Wylie Butler- Cameron 4-H Club, Wylie is the son of Will and Tashena Butler. Kenzie just completed his 10th grade this past year and has been a member of 4-H for 10 years. Wylie’s projects include animal agriculture, beef, dog care and training, and horse.

Riley Clinard is the daughter of Glenn and Shannon Clinard. Riley has been a member of 4-H for 12 years and has been involved in a wide variety of projects, including swine, poultry, beef cattle, public speaking, and food and nutrition.
