Blessing of the Animals Returns to All Saints on October 4

CAMERON — All Saints Episcopal Church will hold its annual Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from noon to 3:00 p.m. at 200 N. Travis Ave. in Cameron, commemorating the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.

The day opens at noon with an outdoor "Pet Mass" — a full service with communion, and all denominations and pets are welcome. From 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., the church grounds turn into a Fall Festival with train rides, a petting zoo, live music, face painting, balloons, a fall photo setting for pet pictures, and food from Jazzy J's, Fiesta Taco, and Circle S, plus Helen's Sno Balls. Savannah's Pet Grooming will be on hand as well.

In a continuing act of community care, Brinlee Veterinary Services will offer free rabies vaccinations for pets. Each animal will be individually blessed by Fr. Jefferson Davis and receive a certificate marking the feast day.

The event is free and open to everyone — part worship service, part community celebration, and a beloved Cameron tradition. Last year's blessing drew families from across Milam County, and this year locals are already asking whether shelter dogs can come along again, as they did last year.
