CAMERON — The Cameron Area Chamber of Commerce is the engine behind much of what brings people — and customers — to downtown Cameron. Here's what the Chamber does for local businesses, everything it has on the calendar right now, and how to get involved.
What the Chamber does for your business
The Chamber exists to bring customers through your door. Its biggest tool is the monthly Sip, Shop, Stroll, & Stay Awhile Market, held on the Second Saturday of each month on the Downtown Square in front of the Milam County Courthouse (102 S. Fannin Ave.). The market gathers local artisans, makers, food vendors, small businesses, and community organizations for a day of shopping and entertainment — and the Chamber actively recruits vendors, with a vendor guide, application, indemnity agreement, and even an interactive vendor map on its website.
Beyond the market, the Chamber promotes its members through cameron-tx.com — including member news and market postings, hot deals, and job postings — and works with partners like Cameron Economic Development on tourism promotion, including professional photography of downtown market and business activity for upcoming tourism websites.
The Chamber also puts on the community events that fill the square: Trunk or Treat and the Christmas Parade, Festival & Fireworks (see below). And each year it hosts an Evening of Appreciation honoring the businesses that invest in Cameron.
Business of the Month: Know a Cameron business that deserves the spotlight? The Chamber accepts Business of the Month nominations every single month. Send your nomination to Tammy at the Chamber of Commerce before the 5th of the month, every month.
