Local Authors Named Co-Winners in Cameron Community Voice Short Story Contest

CAMERON, TX — The Cameron Community Voice is proud to announce the co-winners of its summer writing contest, "Tales Under the Texas Sun." Local writers April Aguilar (writing under the pen name April Dawn) and Erica Wolfe earned top honors in the Adult Creators category.

The summer competition challenged local authors to craft fictional short stories capturing the heat, nostalgia, and unique spirit of a Texas summer. Facing an exceptionally strong field of entries, judges ultimately selected both authors' works to share the top spot.

Meet the Co-Winners

• April Aguilar: Writing under the pen name April Dawn, Aguilar is a local author with published work available online. Her winning story, titled "Lost Summers," brings a rich, compelling narrative to this year's collection.

• Erica Wolfe: Wolfe's standout contribution, titled "The Barometer Bush," impressed judges with its vivid storytelling and atmospheric depth, capturing the true essence of the contest's theme.

Rather than selecting just one piece, The Cameron Community Voice will feature both winning short stories online so the entire community can experience these distinct takes on summer under the Texas sun.
