Local Student's Creativity Takes Center Stage in PTO Design Contest

CAMERON — Art and school spirit came together this week as Cameron Elementary School announced the winner of its annual T-shirt design competition. Fourth-grader Mackoy Denio took home the top honors, beating out fellow students with a vibrant and festive design that captured the heart of the school community.

The contest challenged students to create an original concept that would represent their grade levels for the year. Mackoy’s winning entry features a playful, multi-colored "dripping" aesthetic over a honeycomb pattern, anchored by the bold "YOEMEN" spirit that the district is known for.

"The students all participated in a contest to see whose design would be on their shirts this year and Mackoy was the winner," the Cameron Elementary PTO shared in an announcement.

Mackoy was pictured proudly displaying his original hand-drawn sketch alongside a sample of the finished product. The PTO confirmed that 3rd and 4th-grade students will be the lucky recipients of Mackoy’s specific design, while a separate design for 5th graders is expected to be unveiled in the coming weeks.

This win highlights the incredible young talent within the Cameron ISD art programs and gives students a unique chance to see their hard work worn by their peers across the playground and hallways.
