Milam County and CTCOG Transitioning to Everbridge Emergency Alert System Effective Sept. 1
The new platform allows local emergency management officials and municipalities to quickly broadcast real-time public safety notifications directly to residents, business owners, and commuters across multiple devices.
Milam County, TX - Milam County and surrounding Central Texas communities are upgrading how they deliver critical, life-saving information. Beginning September 1, 2026, the Central Texas Council of Governments (CTCOG)—along with participating jurisdictions across Milam, Bell, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, Mills, and San Saba counties—is officially transitioning from CodeRED to the Everbridge Mass Emergency Communication System.

What Alerts Will Cover
Subscribers can customize notifications to stay informed on local emergencies and civic disruptions, including:
- Severe Weather & Hazards: Tornado warnings, flash flooding, wildfires, severe thunderstorms, and dangerous travel conditions.
- Public Safety & Evacuations: Emergency response operations, law enforcement notices, and evacuation orders.
- Infrastructure & Utilities: Local road closures, traffic disruptions, boil water notices, and water utility maintenance.
- Community Bulletins: Critical public service announcements and municipal updates.
What Current CodeRED Users Need to Know
While basic contact data for residents currently registered with CodeRED will transfer to the new system, all residents must create an Everbridge account to verify their information and set their communication preferences.
