Milam County's Own Micah Holcombe Honored with State-Level Continued Excellence Award

CAMERON, TX — Dedication, leadership, and a lifelong commitment to helping families thrive were front and center recently as the Texas Extension Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (TEAFCS) hosted its annual statewide meeting. Among the shining stars recognized during the event were top educators from across the Lone Star State, including our very own Milam County Family and Community Health Agent, Micah Holcombe.
Holcombe, alongside Jennifer Trufan of Wilbarger County, proudly accepted the prestigious Continued Excellence Award representing the Central Region.

The Continued Excellence Award is not easily earned. It is designed specifically for seasoned county extension agents who have previously achieved high state and national honors—such as the coveted Distinguished Service Award—and who continue to push the envelope in professional development, leadership, and community programming.
For years, Holcombe has been a pillar of strength and education for Milam County residents. Known locally for her tireless work ethic, she has spearheaded vital initiatives targeting youth development, health, wellness, and family resource management. Whether she is collaborating with local school districts, coordinating health advisory committees, or driving community-wide wellness challenges like Walk Across Texas!, Holcombe’s programming continually adapts to meet the evolving needs of local families.

During the moving awards presentation, Holcombe and Trufan were celebrated by key figures in the Texas A&M AgriLife network. They received their honors alongside TEAFCS Association President Tonya Poncik and Dr. Donald Kelm, Associate Director for the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.
