CAMERON, TX — There is a palpable energy flowing through the halls of Cameron ISD these days, and much of it comes down to a vision that puts students' futures first. That vision was officially celebrated on a larger stage recently, as Cameron ISD Superintendent Dr. Mistie Dakroub was named Temple College’s Strategic Partner of the Year.
The prestigious honor recognizes Dr. Dakroub’s tireless leadership, her collaborative spirit, and her unwavering dedication to bridging the gap between high school graduation and higher education for local youth.
Opening Doors at Yoe High
Under Dr. Dakroub’s guidance, the partnership between Cameron ISD and Temple College has flourished, directly transforming the high school experience for students at Cameron Yoe High School. Through expanded dual credit opportunities, Yoe students are stepping onto campus not just as high schoolers, but as college scholars—earning real college credits before they even walk across the graduation stage with their high school diplomas.
"Dr. Dakroub has been an incredible force for positive change," noted representatives in the announcement. Her effort to build strong, seamless educational pathways ensures that Cameron's students are equipped with a head start, saving families time and money while instilling the confidence needed to succeed in higher education.

Investing in Our Own Teachers
Perhaps one of the most visionary aspects of Dr. Dakroub’s strategy is her focus on long-term sustainability. Rather than relying solely on external instruction, she spearheaded a initiative to invest directly in Cameron Yoe High School’s teaching staff, partnering with the American College of Education to help local teachers earn the credentials necessary to teach dual credit courses themselves.
By empowering educators right here at home, Dr. Dakroub has created a self-sustaining ecosystem of academic excellence. More credentialed local teachers mean more dual credit offerings, which ultimately opens more doors for every student who steps through the doors of Cameron ISD.
A Community Win
This award isn't just a testament to Dr. Dakroub’s leadership—it’s a win for the entire Cameron community. When local schools thrive and students are given every opportunity to succeed, the whole town shines a little brighter.
Please join us in giving a huge Cameron Yoe Congratulations to Dr. Mistie Dakroub on this well-deserved recognition! Thank you, Dr. Dakroub, for your relentless passion, your forward-thinking leadership, and your commitment to making a lasting difference in the lives of our children.
