What transpired was equal parts backyard social, song-swap celebration, and outdoor movie premiere—a testament to the tight-knit, collaborative ethos defining North Texas’ independent music ecosystem.

A Golden Hour Song Swap

The evening kicked off under the Texas sky with cold craft brew provided by Fort Worth’s Martin House Brewing Company and an hour of lively socializing. As golden hour settled over the Llama House lawn, the music began with an intimate song swap between Kerri Lick and singer-songwriter Hannah Owens, who owns and operates Llama House Studio alongside her husband.

Trading acoustic arrangements, unexpected covers, and original numbers back and forth, the performance showcased the natural camaraderie between local songwriters. Owens—well known across the regional roots scene both as a solo artist and as part of the folk/Americana outfit Oak & Ember—set a warm, inviting tone for the night, blending intricate harmonies with front-porch storyteller grit.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, lights dimmed for the main feature: the premiere of Lick’s companion concert film for Blame It On Me.

Filmed inside Llama House Studio about a year prior, the movie offers a raw, single-take capture of all 10 tracks on the record. Unlike standard studio rollouts with punch-ins and overdubs, Lick recorded every vocal and guitar pass live on camera in real time.
